Its light structure, characteristic roundness and long finish place this cuvée at the heart of the Château de Gourdon range. The 2022 vintage has lovely notes of blackcurrant, leather and spices.

Medium-deep alluvial sandy-loam soils located to the south of the south/south-east slope of Mont-Joli; lieu-dit Le Vernes; Plantation north-south; Vines 30 years old on average pruned in cordon de royat (6 spurs with two free eyes); Target yield: 30 hl/ha; Planting density: 4500 plants/ha.

Hand and machine harvesting at dawn when the temperature is coolest. Period varying from 20 September to 5 October, depending on the vintage. The grapes are harvested at optimum phenolic ripeness, so as to extract the best possible quality from the skins.

De-stemming, crushing and vatting; extraction by pumping-over and delestage for the Syrah and only delestage for the Grenache; long vatting period of 30 days; ageing for 12 to 20 months, mainly in concrete vats; a small proportion of the Syrah is aged in two-year-old French oak barrels (wood from the Allier).

Vase de Pierre goes very well with southern cuisine: grilled summer vegetables, poultry braised with Provence herbs, leg of lamb with olives, etc.
